Robert Poulter

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Poulter joined the company in 2007 in order to move the company from a ‘research and development’ position to commercialization of their products. A sophisticated individual with high level executive experience in finance, business strategies, mergers and acquisitions, Mr. Poulter’s experience includes various high level management positions within the Royal Bank of Canada (Canada’s largest bank), Accenture (global consulting), and most recently with IBM’s Business Consulting Division. Mr. Poulter’s business experience includes sales, marketing, commercial development, and management in various markets including Canada, United States, Europe and Southeast Asia.

Ryan Parr, PhD

Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of Research & Development

Mr. Parr has utilized his academic research background in the area of mtDNA to develop Genesis Genomics’ successful commercial research platform and leading edge biomarker discovery capabilities. He began his research career at the University of Utah in the Department of Cellular, Viral, and Molecular Biology. He has participated in a variety of intricate projects such as: nuclear differentiation within eucaryotic cells, mechanisms of viral infections, recovery and sequencing of mtDNA extracted from the skeletal remains of ancient Egyptian populations and, identification of unclaimed victims from the 1912 Titanic disaster using mtDNA. Moreover, as a Senior Research Specialist at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Department of Hematology and Oncology, he worked on the problem of cancer resistance to drug therapy.

Professor Mark Birch-Machin

Chief Dermatology Scientific Officer, UK

Prof. Birch-Machin has 20 years of experience in Mitochondrial Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Dermatology, which has been a catalyst for the commercialization of Genesis Genomics skin and sun care mtDNA tests and commercial products. He is Professor of Molecular Dermatology at the University of Newcastle, UK and currently holds a Personal Chair in Molecular Dermatology. He received his PhD in Biochemistry in 1987 and has published over 100 times in scientific journals and books. He is considered an international expert in mtDNA and skin cancer evidenced by his regular appearances as keynote speaker at international conferences and being a press spokesperson for Cancer Research UK, and being featured on international TV News, in newspapers, and on radio.

Carole McCollum

Controller

Ms. McCollum is responsible for all financial and management accounting functions. Having spent over 20 years with leading organizations such as Coca-Cola and Robin’s Foods Inc., she brings a broad range of financial, technical, and operational skill to Genesis Genomics Inc. including human resource legislation, tax regulation, public accounting, and investment management. Her experience and deep knowledge of public reporting, financial, and audit management requirements is a great asset and she is instrumental in assisting with the management of shareholders, analysts, and other stakeholders.

Jennifer Creed

Chief of Research & Laboratory Operations

Ms. Creed is an expert researcher with a keen sense of the commercial viability of biomarker discoveries. Her expertise in research has been leveraged to discover new biomarkers, and her laboratory expertise has allowed Genesis Genomics to create and optimize a number of molecular diagnostic tests. She is a leader in identifying non-invasive approaches to previously invasive molecular tests. Prior to joining the company, she spent 3 years as a DNA Researcher at Lakehead University’s Paleo-DNA Laboratory working with extensively degraded nucleic acids. Ms. Creed holds an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree from Lakehead University where she specialized in biological anthropology.

Gabriel Dakubo, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Gabriel is an expert in molecular biology and translational medicine. Gabriel joined the company in 2004 as a Senior Scientist after four years postdoctoral research training in molecular medicine at the Ottawa Health Research Institute, where he acquired extensive experience in transgenic mouse models of developmental biology and cancer. Gabriel is one of the key scientific leaders in the development of GGI’s current technology of utilizing novel mitochondrial molecules in oncology. Gabriel’s research carrier began in 1989 when he conducted research on the ultrastructural features of myocardial cells at the Department of Pathology, Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. He received his honors BSc with first class standing in Human Anatomy, and his MB, ChB from the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS), with elective training at the Emergency Department of Belfast City Hospital, Northern Ireland. Gabriel was an instructor in Anatomy at UGMS and an emergency medical doctor at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. He is a former professor of biology at Lakehead University, where he taught a number of courses including human pathology, microbiology, immunology, histology, neuroscience, and genetics. He has over twenty publications in journals and books, and is the author and editor of two upcoming books: ”Mitochondrial Genetics and Cancer” (Springer), and “Clinical Utility of Molecular Signatures in Cancer Fields” (Nova Science Publishing).

Ken Bruley, F.C.A.

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Bruley is the former senior partner of Ernst & Young’s Thunder Bay office. He obtained his CA designation in 1967 and was awarded his FCA designation in 1985. Mr. Bruley has dedicated several years to community economic development and has provided expert business advisory, financial expertise, and management consulting services to many former clients. Mr. Bruley was a founding member of the Northwestern Ontario Technology Centre. He has also served as President and member of the Board of Directors for Thunder Bay Ventures, a venture capital and mezzanine finance company focused on economic development.

Orlanda DaSilva

Senior Executive Assistant

Ms. DaSilva is responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the company and provides operational oversight to the company’s corporate governance, business guidelines, and human resource administration. With an educational background in corporate governance and legal administration, coupled with years of experience at leading law firms and financial services corporations, she is prominent in the operations of the company.
