In the year 2000, following a review of the devastating effects and the dire statistical forecasts of future cancer trends, a handful of scientists imagined the value of a molecular biomarker that would allow doctors to detect the initial stages of cancer and monitor genetic health status to reveal early cellular changes for identifying cancer progression. A concept was developed to more specifically examine the role of mtDNA mutations and their relationship to disease in order to develop a diagnostic biomarker for  unprecedented early detection. Genesis Genomics Inc. commenced operations in January 2002 and is fully focused on pursuing its objectives.

Genesis Genomics headquarters is located in the Institute of Collaborative Research (ICR) Discoveries, Thunder Bay, Ontario with a staff of highly skilled researchers, business expertise administrators and support personnel. Genesis Genomics is developing technology that will enable early detection and characterization of cancer. The Company has gained international recognition in the rapidly growing biotechnology sector and has established relationships with experts in the field that will aid in the development of the Biomarker Discovery Platform, the multi-application molecular screening technology for the identification of cancer biomarkers.
